Shelmerdine: Introduction to Latin: Course Page

Exercises

Salve!

This site is intended to provide online drills and exercises to supplement
Susan Shelmerdine's Introduction to Latin, Revised First Edition (978-1-58510-270-9)

These exercises are intended for use with Mac 9.0 and higher and Windows 98 and higher.  Please make sure your browser is the most current version.

An Important Note About Macrons: In order to make the online tools as user-friendly as possible, macrons have only been used in a few key cases.  These include:

  1. The ē of the second conjugation infinitive.
  2. The ā of the first declension ablative singular.
  3. The īs of the first and second declension dative and ablative plural.
  4. The ē of the third plural perfect active indicative (ērunt and ēre).

Instructions have been included in relevant exercises reminding students to enter these macrons.  In all other cases, macrons should NOT be entered because the program will not recognize them—not even the correct ones!
